Today is October 18th and Evan is two months old! Hard to believe eight weeks have already gone by but the calendar does not lie. At two months Evan is very alert, making eye contact when talked to and is able to push himself up when on his tummy and hold his head up. He still has a slight bobble-head but he's definitely getting stronger. My favorite development is the smile we can now invoke by talking to him. He's most alert in the mornings so he and I have daily conversations where I do most of the talking and Evan "coos" his responses. We just gaze at each other and share smiles while discussing topics like the day's itinerary or what outfit he should wear. This is great bonding time and I am fortunate to have it. Evan also smiles and laughs a lot on his own which is just precious. Unfortunately, these moments are hard to get on camera so we are still waiting to catch the perfect candid shot.
Evan went in for his two-month check up today where he weighed in at 13 pounds 3 ounces and was 23.5 inches long. His growth is good and the doctor is impressed with his eating. He's not quite sleeping through the night yet but that's fine. He'll sleep in four-hour blocks pretty consistently and we've even had a six hour and eight hour night. But I've learned that one night of good sleeping does not mean they will all be good nights. Usually the longer sleeping nights are followed by a night of terrible sleep. I will be very happy once we establish a routine but for now I'm at his whim.
So, I guess that's my update for now. I am looking forward to experiencing the upcoming holidays with Evan and will post pictures of him in his Halloween costume in the next week or two. He's going to be adorable. To tide you over here are the latest photos of Evan celebrating his two-month birthday.
